Evangelist, Dr. Vickie E. Curry is the first lady of the Moorhead District and Word of Life Church of God in Christ in Indianola, MS. Her leadership abilities are demonstrated throughout the church’s ministry. She currently serves as Sunday School Teacher, Vice President of Prayer and Bible Band, VBS director, Youth Department President, Founder of the Women of the Word Ministry, WOL praise team, Intercessor and Prayer Warrior, Coordinator of Urban Initiatives (Local and District),   Former President Moorhead District Purity for more than 20 years , Youth Summit Director, Jurisdictional “WE TWELVE " president for numerous years, She also currently serves as the President of the Pastors, Elders, and Ministers Wives’ Circle (local and district), Instructor for the Northern Mississippi Biblical Training Seminars years. and the Chair of the Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Examining Board for the Department of Women, International Sunday School Teacher, International Altar Workers Ministry, and a member of the Executive Board for the Department of Evangelism Women’s Department.

After going through many battles, God has increased her anointing to destroy strongholds and yokes through proclaiming His Word, intercession and worship.  Empowered by the Holy Ghost, God uses Dr. Curry to minister to the sick, the hurt and suffering, wounded, and the broken hearted. God has set her apart with a unique calling. Through her outreach families have experienced meaningful spiritual growth through the church.  Additionally, she teaches The Word of God at the local and district level, as well as, abroad. She facilitates seminars, conferences, and workshops in schools, and corporate settings.

As an outgoing youth, Dr. Curry, who was born in Greenwood Mississippi, accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a youth under the leadership of Superintendent O. S. and Mother K. Sheard. While attending St. Luke Church of God in Christ.  She received the gift of the Holy Ghost under the ministry of Evangelist Albert Pass. Maturing spiritually, she attended the evangelism seminars and Biblical Studies. She accepted a call to minister the Word of God as a teen.  At the age of seventeen, she was consecrated as an Evangelist Missionary in the Church of God in Christ, Northern Mississippi.  She continues to serve under the dynamic leadership of the Late Bishop T.T. Scott and Supervisor Mary Scott.

Educationally, she has excelled. After graduating from Greenwood High School, she attended Mississippi Delta Community College where she received an Associates of Art Degree.  After receiving her Associates of Art degree, she enrolled in Mississippi State University where she received her Bachelor of Science, Master’s, and Educational Specialist Degrees.  Later, she enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi, where she completed her PhD. in Education.

Her professional career began in academia by means of Hinds County Public School System. After relocating to the Delta, she taught in the Sunflower County and Indianola Public School Systems, providing instruction for student at all level (elementary to high school) & Mississippi Valley State University, Teacher Education Department. 

A significant aspect of her life is family-- her husband of 41years (Supt. Andre’ LaCosta, Sr.), a daughter (Andrea La'Shay- deceased), three sons (Andre' Lacosta, Adaiah Lebbaeus, and Aaron Lamont), a daughter in law (Reshunda Michelle), and two grandsons (Adaiah Lebbaeus, II & Harper Hill)
